Purpose Statements

At Schools for Every Child we have created Purpose Statements for each subject area to celebrate their individuality and importance throughout our curriculum.

This approach is designed to foster an inclusive and dynamic learning environment that not only values the uniqueness of each subject but also aligns with our ethical obligation to nurture well-rounded, socially responsible individuals. It's a pioneering step towards redefining educational excellence, emphasizing the importance of ethical understanding and altruistic values as foundational elements of our vision and mission.

This initiative ensures that our educational framework not only meets the academic needs of our students but also cultivates a sense of global citizenship and ethical responsibility towards themselves and the wider community. While still allowing each school and community to design its own day-to-day teaching. based on the needs of the pupils they serve.

Collective Worship Our assemblies celebrate the diversity within our community, fostering an inclusive environment that encourages exploration and respects different beliefs. We aim to nurture brilliance by providing examples of wholesome ways to live in modern Britain and celebrating the achievements of our students, in line with Article 14 of the United Nations Rights of the Child. The 1996 Education Act states that collective worship should be ‘wholly or mainly of a broadly Christian character’, but in recognition that many of our community are members of other faiths or do not have faith we base our assemblies on teaching that gives examples of wholesome ways to live in modern Britain. It is our aim that assembly is a time when the school community can: ▪ share common aims and values ▪ celebrate achievement and special times ▪ explore together the world in which we live ▪ develop a community spirit. This approach resonates with Article 14 of the United Nations Rights of the Child, which emphasises the freedom of thought, conscience, and religion.

Mathematics fuels technological breakthroughs and transcends cultural boundaries, enabling the design of efficient infrastructure, the development of life-saving medical treatments, and the exploration of distant galaxies. As a trust, we embrace the transformative power of mathematics to shape a brighter tomorrow for generations to come. As a trust, our vision for mathematics teaching and learning is to foster a dynamic and inclusive environment where every student can flourish mathematically. Grounded in the principles of curiosity, exploration, and collaboration, our purpose is to inspire a lifelong love for mathematics and equip students with the essential skills and mindset for success in an ever-changing world. We strive to cultivate mathematical thinkers who are confident problem solvers, critical thinkers, and effective communicators. Through engaging, hands-on activities and personalized learning experiences, we aim to empower students to see mathematics as a tool for understanding the world around them and for making meaningful contributions to society.

English at The Trust underpins our curriculum and provides the pupils with knowledge and skills that can be used in all areas. At The Trust, we harbour a love of reading and the written word and aim to support the creativity of our pupils. Pupils are equipped with a wide variety of texts and well- thought out reading lessons that develop core vocabulary as well as introduce more adventurous vocabulary. Throughout our schools you will find written work that the children are really proud of underpinning the UN values – a right to be creative. In addition to creating opportunities for the enjoyment of reading, writing and creativity, the teaching of English goes further than that. Pupils at The Trust schools, develop a deep understanding of a very complex language and can apply core grammatical skills to their written work.

Wellbeing We are committed to creating a positive culture of mentally healthy schools, for our whole community. A mental health team lead is appointed within each school, with a wellbeing manager across the trust providing additional support. This promotes the trust's use of partnerships and networks that contribute to improvement. We are proud to say that our children are taught how to stay mentally healthy. Our trust ensures every employee has the right to take ownership of their own and other people’s wellbeing.

Our safeguarding measures are designed to create a supportive atmosphere that fosters trust and security for educational development. By prioritising the safety and well-being of our students, we aim to instil a sense of respect for themselves and others, nurturing their brilliance and potential, mirroring Article 19's emphasis on protection from all forms of violence.

Our behaviour policies promote mutual trust and respect, allowing students to engage constructively in their academic journey. By fostering a culture of respect and understanding, we enable students to explore their potential and achieve brilliance, in alignment with Article 29, which focuses on nurturing every child's personality and talents to the fullest.

CPD We offer impartial exposure to diverse career options, empowering students to make informed decisions about their future. By encouraging exploration of various career paths, we aim to cultivate a sense of purpose and ambition, fostering respect for different professions and fields of expertise. Our commitment to providing diverse career options aligns with Article 28, emphasising the right to education and career guidance.

SMSC Our emphasis on spiritual, moral, social, and cultural development provides a holistic education, nurturing the whole child and fostering respect for oneself and others. By encouraging exploration of different beliefs and cultures, we aim to cultivate a sense of respect and understanding, nurturing students' brilliance and empathy, in accordance with Article 31, which stresses the right to leisure, play, and participation in cultural activities.

Cultural Capital The development of cultural capital at The Trust is driven by our commitment to nurturing brilliance, guiding exploration, and cultivating respect. We aim to provide students with diverse opportunities to develop their skills and understanding, fostering a deep appreciation for different cultures and perspectives. By encouraging exploration and open-mindedness, we prepare our students to become respectful and well-rounded global citizens, reflecting the ideals of Article 29, which encourages education directed towards the full development of human potential.

Our uniform policy is designed to promote a sense of community and focus, allowing students to concentrate on their educational development and exploration of their potential. By fostering a sense of pride and unity, we aim to nurture respect for oneself and others, reflecting the values of our shared vision of "Nurturing Brilliance, Guiding Exploration, Cultivating Respect" and the principles outlined in Article 6 of the United Nations Rights of the Child.

Our music curriculum emphasises creative expression and community building, fostering a sense of exploration and respect for diverse forms of artistic expression. By providing students with opportunities to explore their musical talents and appreciate various genres, we aim to nurture a deep respect for the arts and cultural diversity, fostering a sense of exploration and open-mindedness. Our approach to music education reflects the spirit of exploration and respect embedded in Article 31, recognizing the right of the child to participate fully in cultural and artistic life.

Reading Instilling a passion for reading is at the heart of our approach, fostering brilliance in literacy and exploration of diverse worlds through books. At The Trust, we cultivate respect for the written word, guided by Article 29 of the United Nations Rights of the Child, which emphasises the right to quality education and respect for the child's own cultural identity.

Phonics is the cornerstone of language exploration, enabling students to decode words and unlock the brilliance of effective communication. We prioritise phonics education at The Trust, guided by Article 17, which underlines the child's right to access information and material from a diversity of cultural backgrounds, with due respect for linguistic diversity.

Science education at The Trust is an expedition of exploration and discovery, encouraging students to marvel at the brilliance of the natural world. We cultivate respect for the scientific method and the quest for knowledge, aligning with Article 28, which stresses the right to education that promotes the child's social and cognitive development.

DT is a space for creativity and practical brilliance. Students explore the world of design, engineering, and innovation, respecting the value of both function and aesthetics. They embark on a journey of exploration, rooted in Article 12, which underscores the child's right to express their views and have them taken seriously in matters affecting them.

History education is a portal to the past, encouraging students to explore the brilliance of human civilization and the lessons of the ages. At The Trust, we foster respect for historical narratives and empower students to embark on a journey of exploration through time, understanding the world's evolution following Article 17.

Computing is the frontier of exploration and innovation in the digital age. At The Trust, we guide students to respect the power of technology and cultivate brilliance in problem-solving and creativity. Students explore the world of algorithms, coding, and digital possibilities, while maintaining a profound respect for responsible digital citizenship, echoing Article 16 on the child's right to privacy.

Art education is a canvas for brilliance and self-expression, encouraging students to explore their creativity and respect diverse forms of artistic expression. At The Trust, we nurture artistic exploration, allowing students to unleash their creative potential, all while fostering respect for the world of aesthetics as enshrined in Article 29.

PSHE is the foundation for nurturing personal brilliance, promoting social responsibility, and respecting individual well-being. At The Trust, we guide students on a journey of self-discovery, exploration of social dynamics, and development of healthy habits, all with a deep sense of respect for themselves and others, in line with Article 24.

Physical education is an arena for exploring physical prowess and maintaining a lifelong respect for health and well-being. At The Trust, we cultivate brilliance in physical development, guided by Article 31, which recognizes the right of the child to play, rest, leisure, and engage in cultural and artistic activities.

Language learning is a gateway to exploring the world's diversity and fostering respect for cultural richness. At The Trust, we encourage students to embrace the brilliance of multilingualism, guided by Article 30, which provides for the right of children to enjoy their own culture, practise their own religion, and use their own language. Students learn to communicate in different languages, gaining insight into diverse cultures and societies while maintaining respect for global linguistic diversity.
